FAQ's

1. — Who is allowed to book your service, is there age limit? These sessions are available to people who are 18+, and have their own skates and protective gear (knee and elbow pads, wrist guards and helmet).

2. — Do I need to be an experienced skater to participate?

2.1 - Tuesday Foundation Session: No. Beginners and experienced skaters looking to polish their skills are welcome here on our Tuesday sessions.

2.2 - Thursday Skate Fitness Session: Yes. Due to the nature of the Thursday Session, you need to be able to fall safely, be steady on your skates, and be comfortable skating at speed in close proximity to other skaters.

If you are unsure which session is best for you, pop along to any session and have a chat with our coaches or contact me using the link at the bottom of the page.

3. — What should I bring? Skates (quads or in-lines), helmet, wrist guards, elbow and knee pads and water! See the Tips and Advice page for kit help.

4. — How do I pay? You can pay via the booking page by credit/debit card or PayPal. If you're having technical difficulties, please message us directly where we can help you out.

5. — What happens if I can't come but I have already paid? You can cancel up to 24 hours before the session by contacting us via the Contact Me link on this website, the Skate Fitness Facebook page or the Wix app. The booking will be cancelled and your payment will be transferred to the next appropriate Skate Fitness session.

If you cancel within 24 hours of the session and we are able to reallocate your place, the booking will be cancelled and your payment will be transferred to the next week's Skate Fitness session. Unfortunately the payment can not transferred a 2nd time if attendance is not possible the week after a cancelled session.

If you cancel within 24 hours and your place is NOT filled or if you are a 'no show' I will be unable to transfer your payment to the next session.

If you'd like a refund, please discuss this with your coach.

Please feel free to discuss with us if there are any questions around this.

6. — What can I expect from the session?

6.1 - Tuesday Foundation session - a low impact session where all of the skills you need to become a strong skater will be taught in a fun and supportive environment.

6.2 - Thursday Skate Fitness sessions - you can expect to get very sweaty! The sessions are focused on stamina, cardio and agility on skates. Your heart-rate will be increased, you will burn some serious calories and you will work your muscles. I can guarantee fun will be had.

All sessions are tailor-able to individual fitness, confidence and ability levels.

7. — Is this roller derby training? No. There is no contact and no roller derby references here! However, if you play roller derby, this would be the perfect complimentary exercise programme to keep your fitness levels up.

8. — Where are you based? Pentrehafod School Hall, Pentremawr Road, Hafod, Swansea SA1 2NN in the big blue building to your right when you enter the school premises.

9. — Am I expected to show up earlier than the planned session time? I would advise you arrive 10 minutes early to get your skates and protective gear on so we can be ready to start skating at the beginning of the session.

10. — What should I wear? Anything that you are comfortable working out in. Most generally wear sports leggings and a vest/tee. As long as you're comfortable, cool and your clothing doesn't hinder your safety gear, anything goes!

If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch!
